Mommy’s tend to put everybody else first, tendency is to put themselves last. I’m certainly guilty of this. Kids, work and everything else on my to-do list are taken care off first before even thinking of myself. Here are 6 easy ways to kick back and relax.
1. Have a spa-like bath
After feeding those little mouths, doing the dishes and tidying up all the messy things it is time to take some me-time. A perfect way is to take a perfect bath. Make sure the room is clean and warm. Put your night wear on the radiator so they’re nice and warm. Put some lavender oil in your bath, nothing artificial though! Prepare some indulging food and drinks to keep within reach. Don’t like anything to eat, a refreshing glass of water keeps you hydrated. Arrange some candles and your favourite music. If you like you can bring a magazine or a book. Don’t forget to have something with you that will support your neck.
Don’t have a bath? A nice and warm shower will do the trick as well.
2. Go for a walk
I should do this more often. Going outdoors is good for you for multiple reasons. Taking a breath of fresh air, burning some calories and wandering around is relaxing on so many levels. I must say that I should do this more often. Especially now in winter time when we are indoors a lot with heating on.
3. Read a book or a magazine
Find the most comfortable place in your house. Cuddle on your couch with a warm blanket, lie on your bed with a nice stack of pillows in your back. Read a good book or bring a stack of your favourite magazine. As a result you will fall asleep more easily.
4. Put on some music
Listening to music can set the mood for anything. Make a relaxing playlist which you can easily put on when unwinding to go to bed. Or even a nice party playlist to do some dancing. Whatever makes you feel better will be good for you.
5. Watch your favourite series or a film
I love binge watching series. Right now I love to watch The Crown. Binge watching it is not really an option since either I have the kids around or I’m just too tired. But having something delicious to eat and drink and to watch something of my choice is just so good.
6. Visit your friends
The best way to kick back is to visit your friends (especially those without kids). Have a drink, laugh a lot, gossip a bit and maybe have a girls night. This, for me, is the best way to let go of all the stress that family life brings. It is just so simple to forget the things that you’re worrying about all day every day.
What do you think is the best way to kick back and blow off some steam?
